What I believe about making art:
You don’t need the “right” supplies. You don’t need formal art training. You don’t need to be able to draw. And you don’t need to know what the end result will look like.
You just need to begin — and then keep going.
That’s what Studio Nicole is about. I started sharing my process in person and on YouTube because I wanted people to see the real process: the happy accidents, the layers that didn’t work, the spreads that surprised me. Not polished, not perfect – but real.
Art journaling changed how I think, how I process the world around me, and how I show up creatively. I want that for you, too.
Come make something with me.

Hello! Let me introduce myself.
I’m Nicole Truitt. I’m a mixed media artist and art journaling enthusiast based in Sussex County, Delaware. My art practice is rooted in experimentation, having fun, and letting pages evolve without expecting them to be perfect.
I share my process on YouTube — real pages, real mistakes, and real creative growth. I also teach in-person workshops at Laurel Exchange & Studio and other local venues, where I love helping beginners stop overthinking and just start making.
When I’m not in the studio, I’m an English faculty member at a community college, a club advisor taking students on wild adventures, and a student working on a (second) Master’s in Ed Tech at the University of Delaware. Creativity and learning are at the center of everything I do.
No rules. Just art.
